Sustainable Water Resources Management, Groundwater Hydraulics and Hydrology, Decision Analysis in Water Resource Management, Risk-based Decision Modelling, Information Technologies in Environmental and Water Resource Management , Geographical Information Systems, Transboundary Water Resources, Economics of Water Resources.

Description of Qualification and Capacity:

The Greek research group consists mainly out of academic members and research associates of the Division of Hydraulics & Environmental Engineering, Dept. of Civil Eng., AUTH with extensive and various experience in the research topics and study area. The main goal of the division is the education of its students as well as the basic and applied research in the field of Environmental Engineering, under a scientific and a technological point of view. The activities of the division expand beyond the limits of the university, to related public services and enterprises. It also participates to the promotion of scientific knowledge in the direction of modern technologies, through continuous research and participation in the production process. The division covers the scientific areas of design and construction technology of hydraulic and maritime works, water resources management and engineering, water quality, decision support systems, groundwater mathematical modelling, environmental engineering and other related scientific areas.

The Bulgarian partner is the Institute of Water Problems, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. As an autonomous academic unit of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, The Institute of Water Problems (IWP-BG) is involved in water management, hydraulics, hydrology, water quality and hydraulic structures. (http://www.iwp.bas.bg), The number of employees is 42 researchers (including 6 Professors) and 33 technical staff and administration.
